Development and preliminary validation of the Sport Situation Attentional Questionnaire

Sport participants’ ability to be concentrated and ignore distractors has been recognised as a crucial cognitive skill for optimising motor learning. To date, no instrument enables assess concentration distraction during sport situation. This paper aimed at developing validating the Situation Attentional Questionnaire (SSAQ) among French participants. Study 1 developed items measuring level of distraction. Content validity was assessed with panel experts, by using interview ten sciences students. 2 included 164 students, explored factor structure questionnaire. Exploratory analysis refined scale 18 supported four-factor model: on task, due teacher, away from toward teacher. 3 216 sports students confirmed structure. Results showed satisfactory internal consistency, convergent divergent validity, well gender invariance. The relationships between SSAQ factors state anxiety subscales concurrent validity. 4 481 high school model, confirmatory analysis. also convergent, reliability SSAQ.
